Sword of Tipu Sultan auctioned for £60000

London: Tipu Sultan, the tiger of Mysore had left many war weapons as a treasure. One of them is a sword which he used in various wars fought against the local rulers and the British.

In a UK auction hall, it fetched £60000. The sword has marks which depict that Tipu Sultan must have used it in wars.

It may be noted that Tipu Sultan laid his life while fighting with the British when they captured Seringapatam Fort. When the British soldiers went searching for him after the conquest, he was found holding the sword in his hands. They were so afraid that they were not able to proceed towards him since they had an apprehension that he might attack them once again. This speaks of Tipu Sultan’s bravery which had created fear among the British Army men.
