To take on BJP, opposition alliance to hold 12 joint rallies in UP

NEW DELHI: Bahujan Samaj Party, Samajwadi Party and Rashtriya Lok Dal, who are fighting the Lok Sabha polls in alliance will share stage by holding as many as 12 election rallies jointly across Uttar Pradesh.

According to The Hindu reports, the decision was announced on Wednesday evening after SP chief called on BSP supremo at her residence in Lucknow.

“We have planned joint rallies in UP”, Akhilesh told ANI in a reply to question about what transpired in his meeting with BSP president.

SP secretary Rajendra Chaudhary said on Thursday that the three parties in alliance will hold joint rallies after the festival of colors ‘Holi’.

“Meetings are being held constantly as the election is round the corner and the poll campaign has to be launched full scale after Holi next week,” he said.

The alliance of Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and Rashtriya Lok Dal president Ajit Singh has caused a “new wave in politics,” Chaudhary said.

The two former CMs of Uttar Pradesh are considered as arch-rivals come together to uproot the BJP.

The SP will contest 37 seats, the BSP 38, the RLD three while two seats have been left for the Congress, making it a total of 80 Lok Sabha seats.
