Aligarh: Aligarh Muslim University authorities appointed 26-year-old, Mohammed Tariq who lost his hand in the violence that rocked campus on December 15, as an assistant professor in the Chemistry department on ad hoc basis.
Tariq is doing PhD in chemistry from AMU.
According to TOI, Tariq hails from a very poor family in Firozabad. His father and elder brothers work as daily wage labourers. Tariq is the only educated member of his family and had been hoping to support his father, an ailing mother and six siblings.
But he had lost all hopes of fulfilling his dreams after he lost his hand.
According to AMU vice-chancellor Tariq Mansoor, taking a humanitarian view of his condition and family circumstances, the university has decided to appoint Tariq as assistant professor on ad hoc basis.
