Kanpur: A Class 8 student was shot dead by her school teacher after she refused to give in to his sexual harassment in Kanpur’s Dehat district.
According to reports, the accused teacher identified as Shailendra Rajput fired three bullets at the victim when she was on her way to home on Thursday. She succumbed to injuries on Thursday night while undergoing treatment at a district hospital, India today reports.
The accused was furious over his suspension for three months by the school authorities after they learnt about his approach to the victim.
The victim’s death in the incident has caused tension in the village with family members demanding death sentence for the accused.
One of the eyewitnesses told, “The villagers rushed the injured girl to the hospital in the evening where she succumbed to her injuries late in the night. After her death, the angry villagers have now blocked roads. We will not open the roads until the accused teacher is nabbed.”
The Police have registered an FIR against the accused who is at large and an investigation is on.
