Telangana: Helmet soon to be mandatory on pillion riders

Hyderabad: Helmet for pillion riders will soon become mandatory in the State as the transport department is planning to make tougher traffic rules to prevent road accidents.

An awareness rally was also taken out on Sunday on the use of helmet by pillion riders marking the week-long 31st national road safety week celebrations.

And Challans will also be imposed on riders who do not wear helmets.

However, a few of the motorists who did not wear a helmet while pillion riding has already been issued challans. Some of them also took to social media on the new rule that is yet to be announced.

On Sunday, Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar has also took part in a ceremony at Khammam on road safety.
