Temple at Charminar back in headlines

Hyderabad: Superintending Archeologist of the Dept. of  Archaeological Survey of India (Govt. of India) told that his department has been making representation to District Administration since 1960 for the removal of a temple erected on the southern side of Charminar but no action has been taken so far.

This statement came to limelight when press reporters asked MIM President, Mr. Asaduddin Owaisi whether he would raise the issue of the temple erected at Charminar in the Parliament?

Replying to this question, Mr. Owaisi told that the ASI has to take action in this regard. There is BJP Govt. in the Centre. He had replied that will ASI take action or prove to be an organ of BJP?

Reacting on this remark, Mr. Milan Kumar Cholte, Superintending Archaeologist of ASI replied it.

He mentioned that since 1960, ASI wrote many letters to District Administration but it did not take any action.

He also told that as per the law, ASI has no executive powers.

He also mentioned that a case is pending with the State High Court.

Mr. Kumar told that police had erected an illegal shed at the temple located at Charminar. High Court ordered to maintain the status quo. A letter was also sent to DGP, Mr. Mahender Reddy pointing out that the beauty of Charminar would get affected by this shed.
