Tension prevails at Amberpet after two groups clash over Masjid land – Raja Singh arrested

Hyderabad: Tension prevailed at Amberpet, Hyderabad after two groups clashed over Masjid land. Police also arrested BJP MLA representing Goshamahal Assembly Constituency, Mr. Raja Singh.

It all started after Greater Hyderabad Municipality Corporation (GHMC) demolished 400-year-old masjid which was located at Amberpet. Two days ago, GHMC had taken this decision in the name of road widening.

After representations to Wakf Board and Government of Telangana, on Sunday, Wakf Board erected a board declaring that the land belongs to “Masjid-e-Ek Khana” and announced the reconstruction of the masjid.

Later, on Sunday evening, some miscreants attempted to stop the construction of the masjid. They also pelted stones due to which some Muslims youths and a police inspector got injured.

The miscreants have raised slogans in the presence of police.

Soon, Hyderabad City Police Commissioner, Mr. Anjani Kumar reached the spot to control the situation.

BJP MLA, Mr. Raja Singh had also reached the spot. However, Police immediately took him into custody.
