Touts arrested, tickets worth Rs 14 L seized in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: To curb the menace of black-marketing of passenger reservation tickets and to facilitate the hassle-free journey to bonafide passengers during festival season, special drives were conducted against e-ticketing touting by South Central Railway.

GM Eswara Rao, IG of RPF said simultaneous raids were conducted at Warangal, Yadgir, Raichur, Bapatla, Twin Cities, in AP, Telangana and Karnataka states falling in South Central Railway jurisdiction.” Some 25 touts were booked under section 143 of the Railway Act in the raids and 206 live tickets and 840 post-journey e-tickets worth Rs 14, 50,880 were seized.

The personal user IDs used by touts are being sent to IRCTC for deactivation immediately.

RPF administration of South Central Railway is committed to taking stringent action against touting activities and passengers are being cautioned not to purchase railway reservation tickets from unauthorized travel agents.
