Tragic incident: Girl who had committed suicide fearing poor performance got 82 marks

Noida: In a tragic incident, an 18-year-old girl committed suicide fearing poor performance in English paper of CBSE Class X. Later, when the results were declared, it was found that she got 82 marks in the paper.

According to the report published in Times of India, the girl was disturbed since she returned from the exam. She had failed to attempt some questions.

The girl is identified as Samistha, a resident of Noida. She took this extreme step on Friday when her father, Sarat Rout and mother, Nirmala was not at home.

Later, when Nirmala return home, she found her daughter hanging from the ceiling fan of the room.

She was rushed to the District Hospital in Sector 30. However, doctors at the hospital declared her dead.

On Monday, her school teacher informed her parents that the girl has scored 82 marks in English.

She scored 82 in English, 79 in Hindi, 78 in Social Science, 61 in Science and 50 in Mathematics.

Sarat said that the girl wanted to become a fashion designer and she used to represent her school in different competitions.

Expressing his views over the case, Dr. Neharshi Srivastava, a psychologist said that if anyone is showing such signs, he or she should be encouraged. If it does not prove fruitful, help of the professional should be taken, she added.
