Unique way of protest: AMU students sell ‘Pakodas’ to give Eidi to VC, Registrar

Aligarh: The agitation of AMU students for admissions into Ph.D. program entered 26th day. Since the authorities were not paying heed to their demands, the students resorted to a new program of protest. They installed a stall of Pakodas putting the banner “PM’s Pakoda selling plan”. They sold pakodas at the dharna place and collected Rs. 700. They took ifatari containing Pakodas to the residences of VC and Registrar. The security staff did not allow them to present Iftari.

They intend to purchase Kurta and Pyjama from the sale proceeds and give it to VC and Registrar as the ‘Eidi’ of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Aaquib Khursheed, a protesting student told that the agitation will continue till their demand is met.

It may be mentioned that President of AMU students’ union, Mr. Salman Imtiyaz participated in the election campaign of Kanhaiya Kumar. Vice President of AMU students’ union, Mr. Hamza Sufiyan convened the meeting of General body in the absence of the President and passed a ‘No-Confidence’ resolution and sent it to VC of AMU, Prof. Tariq Mansoor. On the day of students’ union meeting, two groups collided with each other. Both the groups presented the case to the VC. Despite, the lapse of 14 days, VC has not taken any action.
