UoH sets up an incubator for life-science start-ups

Hyderabad: A solution is now in place for all life science innovators and entrepreneurs to turn their dreams into reality. University of Hyderabad (UoH) has begun to offers a knowledge-based bio-incubator that brings an infrastructure of lab and instrumentation required for a life-science startup that is focused on innovation in life science products, technologies and intellectual property.

The UoH has started an initiative called ‘BioNEST, a collaboration of NGO BIRAC and the department of biotechnology that nurtures scaling technologies in bio-incubators. The University of Hyderabad will contribute the physical infrastructure such as labs, water, electricity etc. together with the knowledge- base of strong 65-faculty from its School of Life Sciences.

BIRAC will contribute the key instruments required to conduct translational research, and accordingly required operational costs to maintain the facility.

The UoH has established a not-for-profit company, Aspire that will manage all its incubators and entrepreneurial initiatives through self- sustenance models.
