Lucknow: A viral video on social media shows a group of women thrashing a girl in the middle of a market in Uttar Pradesh. The incident is said to have happened on Monday.
According to reports, the fray broke out at a market in Etah, where hundreds of women were engaged in Karva Chauth shopping. It is believed the group of women began assaulting the young girl after she apparently called one of them ‘aunty’.
Enraged by the use of the word, the woman started pushing the girl before landing slaps.
Media reports said the incident took place in Babuganj market on Monday evening.
In the video, a group of women is seen hitting the girl wearing a blue jacket and a white scarf on her face. A few seconds later, one of the woman manages to pull the scarf off the girl’s face, following which the other women grab the girl by her head and started slapping.
As a woman wearing a brown top continues to hit the girl, a female cop intervenes and breaks the scuffle.
Towards the end of the video, the cop is seen standing between the group of women and the young girl as both sides continue their loud exchange of words.
