UPSC: Junaid Ahmad from Jamia academy is the 3rd topper; know the secret behind his success

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) declared the final result for civil services examination 2018. Muslim candidate Junaid Ahmad became the UPSC third topper. He says the information available on the internet contributed a lot for his success. Besides a few books suggested by seniors, that helped in creating a base, he says internet helps you a lot, everything is available online.

Though Junaid expected to be in the list, he never expected 3rd rank. Junaid used to study for five-six hours every day. He belongs to Nagina town in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor district. His father Javed Husain is a lawyer and mother Aisha Raza is a homemaker.

Last year he got rank 352 in the civil services exams. He is currently an officer trainee in the IRS. India Today, with reference to PTI reported, Ahmed was staying in Jamia’s Residential Coaching Academy when he got chosen for the Indian Revenue Service (IRS). Celebrating his success he expressed his happiness saying he would now be able to solve people’s problems directly. PTI quoted him as saying, “In IRS, one deals with taxation and that is also related to people but an IAS officer can solve people’s problems directly. More than an achievement, it is a responsibility.”

Hindustan Times quoted him as saying “It took me five long years to come this far. I appeared in the UPSC exam for the first time in 2014 and this year it was my fifth attempt. Last year I cracked the exam with rank 352 and made it as a revenue officer. I decided to go for one more attempt to become an IAS officer. The previous experiences helped me a lot.” Junaid is presently undergoing training in Faridabad as custom officer.

According to Junaid he seriously thought about it during his graduation days. After finishing graduation, he concentrated on UPSC exam. The initial year of failure did not deter him; he kept trying to achieve his aim.

Junaid has an interest in cricket and reading books is his passion.
