Uttar Pradesh: Man detained for smuggling Rs 3.2 lakh

Bahraich (Uttar Pradesh): 42nd Battalion of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) on Saturday apprehended a for smuggling Indian currency notes across the India-Nepal border.

SSB seized over Rs 3.2 lakh from the man, a native of Jharkhand.

“With Model Conduct of Code (MCC) in force ahead of ensuing Lok Sabha elections, our team has become extra vigilant of the flow of the unaccounted cash. During the checking, we seized a huge amount of cash in possession of this man,” police said in a statement.

During interrogation, the man could not provide any valid document for the seized currency.

He has been sent to jail and further investigation is underway.
