Vijayashanti deplores non-extension of support to Congress by regional parties on SCS

Hyderabad: Former-actress-turned Congress leader Vijayashanti today expressed her disappointment over non-extension of support to Congress party by regional parties from Andhra Pradesh despite the fact that it had promised to give special category status to the AP after returning to power in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

On her official twitter handle, Vijayasanti questioned the satraps of the regional parties as to how they would achieve special category status to Andhra Pradesh without Congress party’s the support. She also said the ruling BJP had already “cheated” the people of the residual State by not keeping its promise on the special status. She pointed out that she joined the Congress after it conceded the demand of separate Telangana State.

“I had extended my support to the Congress when it promised to create separate Telangana State and reposed total faith in it. Later, I joined Congress after it kept its word and formed the separate Telangana State,” she said. Vijayasanti urged all the regional political parties to hold a meeting on the issue and pass a unanimous resolution in support of the Congress which has promised to accord special category status to Andhra Pradesh.
