Want some things first before bench for 2G cases: SC

New DelhI: The Supreme Court on Thursday said that it would like certain things to be addressed first before constituting a new bench to hear matters relating to 2G cases being monitored by it but did not spell them out.

As Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, in a mentioning, urged a bench, headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, to set up a new bench for an “urgent hearing” of some applications as Justice A. K. Sikri, who heading the earlier bench, has retired, Chief Justice Gogoi said, “We will also like to mention something. But we can’t do it in open court.

“You can find out for yourself (what that is).. you need to address that first.

“For the time being, we ignore your request (for a new bench to hear applications relating to 2G matters),” he added.

CJI Gogoi’s remarks left everybody guessing as to what he wants to be addressed first before constituting a new bench.
