Wedding cancelled: Bride leaves groom stranded in ceremony

Bhubaneswar: An anti-liquor activist bride cancelled her wedding leaving her groom stranded on the Mandap after she smelled alcohol on him.

The incident took place in Jajpur District’s Baniamala village where the bride who is also a member of self help group (SGH) and an active member to put down shutters to the liquor shop canceled her wedding.

She stood leaving her groom stranded on mandap after she sensed the groom came to the wedding in an inebriated state.

She simply got up and walked out of the mandap says Sanghamitra the bride.
She also stated that she has shut down numerous liquor shops in her village for the past two years.

Marrying a drunkard made her lose temper. She pointed out the groom is unfit for marriage.

Despite Sanghamitra parents tried to convince her to change her decision the bride stayed resolute.

The brave bride is not worried about criticism rather cancelled her wedding as the groom was unfit.

A meeting between the families was held in which the groom’s father was asked to return Rs 71,000, a gold chain and a gold ring.
