Why Kejriwal was keen for an alliance with Congress?

New Delhi: Delhi Congress chief Sheila Dikshit announced on Tuesday that the Congress will not form an alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the national capital for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

While the political experts see BJP’s gain in it, Congress feels that its return to Delhi lies in AAP’s downfall. Congress feels that if it fights elections with AAP it will not gain anything; besides it will have to compromise with AAP on the national level as well.

On the other hand, this is do or die situation for AAP. It is inevitable for Aam Aadmi Party to win Lok Sabha elections. But its loss is Congress’ win.

Several AAP MLAs are disgruntled with the party. According to sources, all is not well in AAP party. If BJP comes to power in the centre again AAP will land into trouble. AAP fears decimation if the BJP comes to power at the centre again.

These are the reasons why AAP wanted an alliance with Congress. It was also keen to make an alliance in Punjab as well, as it is a sinking ship there.
