The most effective screening strategy for breast cancer is mammography which is an X-ray examination of the breast.

For others screening through mammography should be done above the age of 40 years every year. Women with symptoms like a lump in the breast or armpit, change in the size or shape of the breast, or any discharge, skin changes over the breast should consult the doctor and get a diagnosis .
