Your identity “hasn’t been tampered with”: “Gov tells Kashmiris

SRINAGAR: Governor Satya Pal Malik after hoisting the national flag assured the people of Valley not be worried about their identity in the wake of the abrogation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 of the Constitution.

Addressing the gathering at Sher-e-Kashmir stadium in Srinagar to mark the occasion of India’s 73rd Independence Day, Malik assured the Kashmiris that, “The constitution of India allows different regional identities to flourish.”

He said, “The changes that the Central Government has brought are not only historic but also open a new door for the development of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.”

The Governor also said that Jammu and Kashmir is incomplete without Kashmiri Pandits.

“Jammu and Kashmir is incomplete without Kashmiri Pandits. The administration is committed towards their homecoming and rehabilitation in Kashmir. This is possible with the support and cooperation of all stakeholders including Valley people who share a social and cultural bond with the Kashmiri migrants,” Malik said.
