YSR Congress ex-Minister found murdered in a pool of blood

Tirupati: YSR Congress party chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s uncle also a party minister was found murdered under mysterious circumstances when there is hardly any time for Lok Sabha elections.

YS Vivekananda Reddy, 69, was expected to get a YSRC ticket for his native Pulivendula village assembly in Kadapa District late on Thursday night before the upcoming elections.

Jagan Mohan Reddy has accused Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu and his son Lokesh behind the murder.

CM Naidu has denied any role in the murder. Meanwhile, TDP Kadapa MP candidate and state minister Ch Adinarayana Reddy has accused Jaganmohan Reddy of trying to politicise the death of his uncle regardless of the pain the family is currently going through.

Post Mortem report of Reddy revealed he was murdered on Thursday night and that he has seven injury marks that were caused by a sharp weapon.

While Naidu offered his condolences, and conveyed his sympathies to the deceased member’s family, he also said those involved in the murder shall be booked, no matter who they are.

Rejecting a CBI probe demanded by Jagan at a press conference, Naidu alleged that forensic evidence was destroyed by the family members of Vivekananda Reddy.

Additional director-general (CID) Amit Garg, who is heading the SIT, told media that the investigation is on and the SIT visited the crime scene. “We will come to a preliminary conclusion by Saturday,” he added.

Reddy was found murdered in a pool of blood in his bathroom, with injuries on his forehead, back of the head, thighs and wrists.

Reddy’s nephew and former MP, YS Avinash Reddy, also demanded a detailed investigation into the death. “He sustained two injuries in the head. Police should also probe conspiracy angle to establish the actual cause of death,” he said.
