Hyderabad: Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily criticized the State Govt. that despite declaring Urdu as the second official language, it did not take any action to develop it. Urdu is not being used in Govt. Departments. There is no machinery to apprise the ministers and the officials who do not know Urdu. This state of affairs is disheartening.
He was addressing a gathering on the occasion of the release of special issue of “Aina-e-Chashm” Urdu weekly on its 32nd anniversary. He congratulated the editor of the journal, Mr. Ahmed Siddiqui Mukesh and said that there is a need for the Govt. to release advertisements to patronize small newspapers.
He lamented that the attitude of the Govt. for minority institutions was not encouraging. At a stroke of pen, conscientious officials were transferred. He made a special mention of Anjuman-e-Taraqui-e-Urdu that it has been making representations continuously. It is the duty of the Urdu writers and poets to restore this organization in order to force the Govt. to resolve their issues.
He paid rich tributes to the services of the editor of Rehnuma-e-Deccan, Mr. Syed Vicaruddin and said that very soon, it is completing 100 years of its publication. He mentioned that Siasat Urdu Daily has also completed 70 years. Siasat Urdu Daily has always been making an attempt to make it a complete newspaper. It traversed its journey from rotary to offset and later, as the first e-paper of Urdu.
He recalled that former PM of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh had released the first edition of the e-paper of Siasat Urdu Daily.
Mr. Zahid Ali Khan also appreciated the efforts of Mr. Syed Fazil Husain Parvez, Editor of “Gawah” Urdu weekly.
Mr. Abid Siddiqui presented welcome address. Justice E. Ismail, former member of Human Rights Commission, Mr. M.A. Nayeem (USA), Mr. Sajid Mohiuddin (USA) attended the function as the guests of honour.
Later, noted comedians, Mr. Daulat Ram, Mr. Hamid Kamal and Mr. Khadir Shareef presented their humourous items. Mr. Khusro Shah conducted the meeting. Mr. Ahmed Siddiqui Mukesh proposed vote of thanks.
