Brian Lara unsold in IPL-4

Mumbai, January 08: After Saurav Ganguly, it’s now Brian Charles Lara who has been forced to eat humble pie as there were no takers for the former West Indian great in the 2011 IPL auction at Bangalore.

It’s been a mixed bag for the old legs and age definitely seems to be a major deterrent when it comes to upping the ante by the bidding franchisees.

Adam Gilchrist, aged 39 who led the Deccan Chargers to ultimate glory in the IPL 2 season is the only exception so far, as Kings XI Punjab purchased his services for $ 900,000.

However, Lara aged 41 was attempting a comeback after being in the wilderness for nearly three years. He was part of the erstwhile Indian Cricket League way back in 2008.

In another shocking turn of events, former Kolkata Knight Riders captain Saurav Ganguly was left in the lurch as none of the bidders seemed it worth their while to go for the former Indian captain.
