GHMC to continue demolition of illegal structures

GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar informed that the identification of encroachments on lakes has been completed and marking of Full Tank Level (FTL) is almost over. He said that GHMC is writing ‘Illegal’ on the buildings which are constructed without any permission.

The Commissioner said that the people have gained the confidence that the Government and GHMC would demolish all unauthorized constructions and initiate action speedily without any partiality. Responding to the query of media persons, he said that the demolition process has not been stopped and it is an ongoing function of the GHMC. The town planning wing has other functions such as issuing of ‘Building Permissions’ and unauthorized constructions will shoot up if the building permissions are delayed, he said.

Somesh Kumar clarified that the GHMC has taken up demolitions each and every circle without any favour and said that GHMC is following a sympathetic way while demolishing unauthorized structures such as in first phase buildings under construction will be demolished, in phase II the constructed buildings which are vacant will be demolished and in III phase the blatantly violated houses occupied by people will be demolished.

The Commissioner appealed to the citizens of GHMC to complain about unauthorized structures by calling GHMC 24/7 call centre 040-21 11 11 11 or by sending an e-mail to GHMC officials and further requested to ‘help GHMC to them better’. GHMC is going very strategically ahead with demolitions by duly following legal process after thorough verification of complaints received regarding unauthorized constructions, he said. (INN)
