Now, five DSPs get marching orders from EC

Hyderabad, April 13: The Election Commission on Sunday shunted out five DSPs in the state for dereliction of duty. Those given the marching orders were G Malla Reddy of Tadipatri, N Sai Nath of Kadiri, T Janardhan of Nagarkurnool, T S Krishnamurthy of Adoni and V R N Tagore of Guntur rural.

In their place, the EC posted M Srinivasulu in Tadipatri, A Sesha Rao in Kadiri, K Satyanarayana in Nagarkurnool, M Satyanarayana in Adoni and E Anandam in Guntur rural. “The DSPs were transferred for negligence of duty, non-action and biased action,” chief electoral officer I V Subba Rao told mediapersons.

Referring to other issues, Subba Rao said there should not be any SMS campaign during the ban period of the campaign from 4 pm on April 14 to 4 pm on April 16. He also ruled that both the electronic and the print media cannot come up with exit or opinion polls between April 14 and the last day of the polls on May 13.

Meanwhile, the police on Sunday seized Rs 97.75 lakh cash in raids across the state. In Darsi constituency in Prakasam district, Rs 5.5 lakh was seized from a Congress candidate.
