No compromise with China on India’s territorial sovereignty: Ajit Doval

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval said here on Tuesday that while India would like to develop relations with China, there can be no compromise on the country’s territorial sovereignty.

“While we would like to take every opportunity to develop the relations to their best extent, we will never be able to make any compromise on our territorial interest and sovereignty at the cost of our national security,” Doval said at the Munich Security Conference organized by the Observer Research Foundation here.

He added that there has been a positive signal from the Chinese side towards resolving the boundary dispute amicably.

“I find that there is a positive signal from the Chinese and they also feel that we should sit together and resolve our boundary dispute amicably and as early as possible so that there is more cooperation,” Doval pointed out.

He said that while there have been some bad experiences with China, both countries must sit together to find a solution

“We see China as a very important neighbour. We had some bad experiences in 1962 and we have got disputes. That is the reality of ground. You have to sit with them to find a solution. But there is a lot of scope for economic cooperation. We also have many types of common problems.”

Doval also added that we have to involve and engage each other rather follow the path of exclusive isolation.
