Sensex trades flat; auto stocks gain

A benchmark index of Indian equities markets Monday was trading flat at 14.25 points or 0.05 percent up as auto stocks rallied.

Good buying was observed in auto and capital goods, while marginal selling pressure was seen in metal and IT sectors.

The 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 26,123.69 points, was trading at 26,117.48 points (at 09.20 a.m.) in the early session, up 14.25 points or 0.05 percent from the previous day’s close at 26,103.23 points.

The Sensex has touched a high of 26,142.24 points and a low of 26,084.87 points in the trade so far.

The S&P BSE auto index gained 120.12 points and capital goods index went up by 91.96 points; while metal index dropped by 23.64 points and IT index went down by 14.05 points.

The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading flat at 6.10 points or 0.08 percent up at 7,797.80 points.
