Syrian Electronic Army claims responsibility for hacking of news sites

The Syrian Electronic Army has claimed responsibility for the recent Thanksgiving Day attack, where it hacked into several news sites.

According to CNET, “You’ve been hacked by the Syrian Electronic Army ” messages popped up on several news sites, after the group managed to redirect the Internet traffic of Gigya.

The group targeted many news sites, including two UK newspapers, the Independent and the Telegraph, as well as CNBC, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp., and the Boston Globe.

The group was able to redirect the traffic after tinkering with Gigya’s Domain Name System (DNS) Internet address records via GoDaddy .

Gigya on Thursday reassured customers that the issue has been resolved and no harm to actual websites was done, the report said. (ANI)
