Mahboobnagar, January 05:

The Telangana Political Joint Action Committee will organise a massive public meeting at Gadwal in Mahabubnagar district on January 22.

Talking to reporters here, TPJAC Convener Prof M Kodandaram said that the meeting was aimed at increasing the pressure on the Centre to grant statehood for the Telangana region. Reiterating that the Centre was adopting delaying tactics on announcing its decision on Telangana, he said that people in the region would not accept anything short of Telangana.

Prof Kodandaram made it clear that a regional council or financial package for the region would not be accepted and pro-Telangana parties would remain firm on their demand for a separate State with Hyderabad as its capital. (INN)
