TRS Govt Committed To HMR: KTR

Inaugurating Institute of Metro and Rail Technology here on Friday, Telangana IT Minister K. Taraka Ramarao said the TRS government was committed to construction of Metro Rail in Hyderabad.

Speaking on the occasion, KTR said the TRS government would give Metro Rail as a gift to the citizens of Greater Hyderabad. He also clarified that there were no differences between the government and HMR officials about the project. He also urged the HMR authorities to expand the Metro Rail distance from 72km to 200km. The minister said alternatives were being examined on the possibility of underground railway system in the problematic areas.

TRAIN TRIAL RUN ON UGADI: NVS REDDY

Speaking on the occasion, HMR managing director NVS Reddy said they were making preparations for a trial run of the Metro Rail shortly. He also disclosed that the Metro Rail trial run between Nagole and Mettuguda will be held on the Telugu New Year Day, Ugadi. For the purpose, four more bogies were being brought, he added.

Stating that Metro Rail works would not be suspended under any circumstances, NVS Reddy said there would be no underground railway line in front of the Assembly building and Mojamjahi Market areas. He said they have spent over Rs 4,600 crores on the HMR project so far and ready to spend more due to the additional expenditure on HMR alignments. He once again clarified that Hyderabad Metro Rail is totally the Telangana project.
