128 Ghaziabad schools remain closed on fee hike issue

Ghaziabad: All 128 schools here remained closed in a token protest against the formation of a committee by the district administration to look into allegations of “arbitrary” fee hike by parents and their associations

School owners today staged protest at the Collectorate and handed over a memorandum to the district magistrate (DM) in which the Independent Federation of Schools stated that the administration had no right to form a committee that intervenes in the financial matters of self-financed schools affiliated to the CBSE.

The president of the federation, Subhash Jain, alleged that the committee has demanded a report in such a format that leads to “exploitation of schools”.

“The Supreme Court has also given rights to private schools to increase fee,” he claimed.

Ghaziabad DM Ministhy S said the inquiry into the matter will continue and a report will be sent to the special secretary to chief minister.

The special secretary will look into the matter, as the enraged parents and schools owners are adamant on the fee hike issue, Ministhy said.

The law and order condition has been affected by their protests, the DM said.
