Visakhapatnam: Two persons including a minor boy were today killed and another injured when the motorcycle they were travelling on hit a stationary lorry at National Highway-16 near Pelugollu junction, police said.
The incident took place when Ch Suresh (21), a welder, and Sunny Dung (14) along with M Sravan Kumar (26), an auto-rickshaw driver, were going to Sravan’s sister house, Sub-Inspector of S Rayavaram Police Station, M Shekar Kumar said.
Due to poor visibility, Suresh was unable to see the parked lorry, the officer said.
Suresh and Sunny were killed on the spot while Sravan was shifted to a hospital here, he added.
Police said the lorry driver was the responsible for the mishap as he had parked the vehicle on the busiest NH-16 stretch without observing the basic rule of switching on the indicators.
A case has been registered and efforts are on to nab the lorry driver, who managed to flee from the spot, police said.
