Akbar meets Uzbek Foreign Minister

New Delhi: Minister of State for External Affairs M J Akbar today met Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov at Tashkent and handed over to him a condolence letter by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on demise of that country’s former President Islam Karimov.

“Met HE Mr Abdulaziz Kamilov, FM Uzbekistan and handed over condolence letter by our PM after sad demise of former President HE Islam Karimov,” Akbar tweeted.

Karimov died on September 2 at the age of 78 after 27 years in power.

Akbar also visited Karimov’s grave at Samarkhand and paid tribute to the former Uzbek President.
