Afridi received a flurry of criticism following his disappointing performance during Pakistan’s disastrous Asia Cup Twenty20 campaign, which concluded on Friday.
He scored just three runs and bagged two wickets in the two out of four matched which he played.
Backing Afridi’s technique, Akram insisted that he had maintained a particular style from the last 15 years which had been backed by everyone.
The former pace spearhead added that one could not expect Afridi to come to the crease and start blocking the ball all of a sudden, the Dawn reported.
Describing Afridi as a ‘tremendous’ bowler, Akram insisted that the former should just focus on hitting big runs, adding that he should be supported for his style.
