Be alert on seasonal diseases: CS tells officials

Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma today directed the health officials to be extra cautious on the possible spread of seasonal and viral diseases as the Monsoon season has just begun.

At a high level review meeting at Secretariat here on Tuesday, the Chief Secretary asked the officials of the health wing to take all precautionary measures to ensure that no viral or other diseases spread. Rajiv Sharma emphasized the focus on drinking water, sanitation, clean drive and fogging operations during early hours on regular basis and upkeep of roads and main thoroughfares, Rajiv Sharma said.

Drinking water should be supplied to the people on time and avoid any possible contamination that will cost dear, he warned. Since the Monsoon is set to bring more showers in the days to come, the officials of the Health department should remain alert and take all measures to prevent the spread of contagious or other diseases, he said. Stocking of adequate number of medicines and injections is a must and officials press staff to attend the patients at all health centers, dispensaries and all hospitals in the twin cities and districts. He also asked the officials of the district level to concentrate on villages and towns to see that sanitation drive is taken up on regular basis and drinking water is supplied on time. (NSS)
