A day after the case of Pratyusha, the girl who was tortured by her father and step-mother ended up positively after the intervention of the high court and the chief minister, yet in another incident a 5 year old from Gattu village of Mahbubnagar district was allegedly tortured by her stepmother.
According to police, a local anganwadi staff rescued a five-year-old Jayalakshmi on Wednesday who was beaten by her stepmother.
The staff, who noticed wounds and burns on her, took her to the local hospi tal. After she was provided primary treatment, she was asked if she wanted to go home. However, she said she was being beaten and burnt at home following which the staff informed the cops.
According to the police, the girl and her older brother Veeresh were being tortured by their stepmother Sujata. Jayalakshmi’s father C Mallesh is a da ly wage worker and married a second time after his first wife died some months ago.
The police have booked a case under Juvenile Act and 324 IPC against the father and stepmother who are absconding.
