AP bags another award for Energy security

Hyderabad: In an yet another significant development in recognition of the valuable contribution towards development of Renewable Energy & Hydro power, Andhra Pradesh has been conferred with the “BEST STATE OF INDIA FOR ENERGY SECURITY, GOVERNANCE & SUSTAINABILITY” during the second REPA (Renewable Energy Promotion Association) State Awards -2016.
The award has been notified in recognition of the efforts of AP power utilities towards achieving a gross total allocated-cum-installed capacity of 14 GW(Giga watts) and Renewable Energy portfolio including Hydropower of approx.4000MW @ 28.5% share in Power Generation mix. The award was presented by R.K. Jena, MP in the presence of Prof. A.G. Iyer, Editor-in-chief & publisher, ENERTIA, Yogendra Prasad, former CMD, NHPC (National Hydroelectric Power Corporation) on Wednesday at New Delhi and Baabar, Liasioning Officer, Energy Dept, Govt. of AP received the awards on behalf of K. Vijayanand, IAS, MD/ APGENCO, CMD/APtransco & APSPCL(AP Solar Power Corporation). On the occasion, K Vijayanand, said APGENCO/APTRANSCO which have received several awards, including the Best Bureaucrat Award is power sector was striving to maintain highest standards in power supply in the State.
Earlier, recognizing the efforts of AP power sector in promotion of Solar power, “Best Govt. Nodal Agency for Solar under NSM-Solar Excellence Award” was issued to Andhra Pradesh Solar Power Corporation Pvt. Ltd (APSPCL) and “Sourya-Ratna Award” was also conferred to K. Vijayanand, IAS, Chairman/APSPCL, MD/ APGENCO, CMD/APtransco. Expressing satisfaction over the achievement of another prestigious award, the Prl. Secretary (Energy, I&I, CRDA) Ajay Jain, has assured that AP Govt./Power utilities will rededicate for the economic development and welfare of power consumers. (NSS)
