Arshad Warsi’s bungalow demolished by BMC

Mumbai: The BMC on Monday demolished part of film actor Arshad Warsi’s bungalow at Versova for an alleged illegal construction of an additional floor. The actor’s bungalow was at BMC’s scanner for four years.

When civic officials visited his house, they carried out only symbolic demolition as it was locked.

On Saturday, the BMC had given Warsi 24 hours to remove the illegal construction of second floor (around 1,300sq ft). As there was allegedly no response from the actor, the partial demolition was carried out on Monday, reported TOI.

BMC officials said they would issue another notice to Warsi and his wife, Maria Goretti, asking them to provide civic staff access to the property to remove the illegal floor.

As per the sources, all the floor space index (FSI) on the society was consumed while developing the area, so no additional construction can be carried out on the bungalows. The BMC also examined other bungalows after it was informed that many others have carried such illegal constructions.
Ward officer Prashant Gaikwad said, “We will send a notice to him again and will remove the illegal floor.”
