Guwahati: A peculiar incident has been reported in Guwahati where a woman is pleading death penalty against her neighbor for killing his egg laying duck.
Renu Rabha, a resident of Kanchan Nagar, Guwahati alleges that her neighbor Kusumbar Barauah killed her duck when she entered his boundary.
According to sources, both the families had a tiff over the issue before Renu walked into the Noonmati Police Station with her dead duck and filed a FIR.
An inconsolable Renu told the police officials to grant her neighbour Kusumbar death penalty for killing her bird who recently started giving eggs.
“We have registered a case based on the complaint and are investigating. Among other charges, we have added section 429 of Indian Penal Code, which deals with killing of animals,” said In-charge Rajib Saikia, Noonmati police station.
The dead bird was later sent for postmortem to government veterinary hospital to know the cause of its death.
