Babri Masjid Demolition protests held in City

Hyderabad: On the occasion of 24th anniversary of Babri Masjid demolition, various organizations registered their protest. In the old city of Hyderabad, partial bandh was observed. Police had made elaborate arrangements. Rapid Action Force, Telangana Armed Reserve Police and the police personnel of special police were also deployed at sensitive areas in the old city.

The activists of Darsgah-e-Shahadat were meeting an attempt to proceed to Charminar from Moghalpura. Police arrested them. Its president, Mr. M.A. Majid and 15 activists of his organization were arrested. They were released in the evening.

Wahdat-e-Islami organization organized a protest meeting at Masjid Ujalay Shah, Saidabad for restoration of Babri Masjid. Maulana Naseeruddin addressed the gathering. At Indira Park also other originations organized dharna and protest meetings. There are no reports of Hindu fundamentalist organizations of celebrating “Vijay Diwas”.

Commissioner of Hyderabad City Police, Mr. M. Mahendra Reddy reviewed the arrangements at Charminar. Addressing the media persons, Mr. Mahendra Reddy told that police is concentrating on ensuring the peaceful atmosphere of the city. He further told that similar arrangements would be made on the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi festival. He further informed that more than 3000 policemen would be deployed for the central procession that would start from Makkah Masjid and would end at Moghalpura Playground.
