Banerjee slams a section of media

Jalpaiguri: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today attacked a section of the electronic media blaming them for showing old footage of arms brandishing men moving around polling booths during live coverage of today’s Assembly polls.

“A particular TV channel is showing footage of armed men roaming around in areas where polling took place today. Who has given this channel the right to show old clippings of armed men of other parties? Who has given them the right to defame TMC in this way?” Banerjee told an election meeting here at Dabgram-Fulbari assembly constituency in the district.

Alleging that a particular section of the media has joined hands with evil forces to defame the party and create disturbances, Banerjee said “this evil alliance (of Congress-CPI-M) are bent on spreading canards. But the people are not with them.
