BEL to showcase ‘Made in India’ products at Defexpo

Bengaluru: State-run Bharat Electronics Ltd. (BEL) will showcase ‘Made in India’ products for the armed forces at the ‘Defexpo India 2016’ in south Goa for four days from March 28.

“Our indigenisation efforts to design, develop and manufacture warfare systems are in line with the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative,” the defence behemoth said in a statement here on Wednesday.

The ninth edition of the biennial event showcasing the land, naval and internal homeland security systems will be held for the first time in Goa by the state-run defence exhibition organisation of the defence ministry.

“BEL is exhibiting a range of products and systems that address the needs of the Indian army, navy and air force, coast guard and paramilitary forces,” the statement said.

According to the organisers, about 1,030 companies from 47 countries have registered to show their latest products and technologies at the mega event.

Among the warfare products and systems on display will be land and naval radars for surveillance, navigation, weapon location and fire control, multi-band tactical radios, ship and airborne tactical data link, IP gateway, encryptions, electronic warfare systems and avionics.

Night vision devices and weapon and tank sights, thermal imagers, laser range finders, laser warning systems, electronic fuses and batteries for various applications are among the BEL products to be flagged in its pavilion.

For the army, the company makes upgraded L-70 guns, new versions of electronic systems for 155mm artillery guns, new model of Sachilka weapon system, tank intercom system, integrated fire detection and suppression system and tanks.

For navy and air force, the company supplies Akash missile system and sonars among other products.

“Indigenously-developed training systems like simulators for unidentified flying objects and reporter radar would also be on display,” the statement added.
