BJP accepts people’s verdict with humility; will cooperate with TRS: Kishan

Telangana BJP president G. Kishan Reddy today said his party would accept the verdict of people and its defeat in GHMC elections with humility.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Saturday, Kishan Reddy said though his party could get only four seats in the election, it stood at third place in GHMC electoral battle. He pointed out that his party could get 6.15 per cent votes on its own, but the BJP-TDP combine polled 18% votes in the elections. He said his party was at second position in 34 divisions and lost three seats by a margin of below 200 votes and seven seats below 2,000 votes.
Accepting the verdict of the people honorably, Kishan Reddy hoped the ruling party would fulfill its promises made to the citizens before GHMC polls. His party would analyse election results in ward-wise and Assembly segment-wise before taking corrective measures, if any, he added.
The BJP leader said the ruling TRS party successfully misled the citizens by false propaganda saying that if the BJP was voted to power in the city, they would not get two bed-room houses and development in the city would come to a grinding halt. He also alleged that the TRS party splurged several crores of rupees to convert the situation in its favor. Besides, the TRS also encouraged defections from other parties affecting the morale of the Opposition parties, he added.
The State BJP chief said his party would extend whole-hearted cooperation to the ruling party in the development of the city and at the same time it would mount pressure to fulfill its promises. He also attributed low percentage of polling as one of the reasons for his party’s disastrous performance. (NSS)
