BJP leader H Raja’s effigy burnt

Coimbatore: To condemn BJP National Secretary H Raja’s alleged remarks against CPI leader D Raja over the JNU row, some activists of All India Youth Federation today burnt his effigy near Sulur on the outskirts.

Police said activists of AIYF, CPI’s youth wing, came with the effigy and burnt it near Pappampatti Junction and raised slogans against the BJP leader.

All the activists left the scene before police could reach the spot.

Last month, the BJP national secretary was at the centre of a controversy with remarks that CPI leader D Raja should ask communists to shoot and kill his daughter for taking part in “anti-national protests” in JNU.

“D Raja should demand that communists should shoot and kill his daughter for taking part in the JNU protest. To prove my love for this country, I would have done the same if my child was taking part in such anti-national protests,” he had said.
