Blood Donation Day: 500 students donate blood


On the occasion of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day, Telangana State AIDS Control Society (TSACS) and State Blood Transfusion Council (SBTC), Hyderabad organized a rally with 500 students of Aurora College, Ambedkar College, Anurag College and Nursing College from YMCA to Sundarayya Vigyana Kendram, Bagh Lingampally on Thursday.


Under the chairmanship of Dr John Babu, Addl. Project Director, TSACS, a meeting was organized in which Dr Kanaka Chary, State Academic Guidance Officer, Manoranjan, Regional Youth Coordinator, Dr Ravi Kumar, Addl DM&HO(AIDS&Lep), Shankar, Joint Directors, Staff of TSACS participated. Dr Amarendar Reddy, Director, IPW was the guest of honor.


Dr John Babu, APD highlightened the importance of Voluntary and Non-Remunerative Blood Donation. A skit was performed by the College students depicting the importance of Voluntary Blood donation. Palle Suddulu Artists entertained the audience with folk songs on the need of voluntary Blood Donation. A poster was released on the occasion disseminating information on the significance of Voluntary Blood Donation.


A blood Donation Camp was organized where over 50 units of blood was collected. The students, more number of girls and women, donated blood. Regular blood donors, Blood Bank personnel were felicitated for their commendable services on the occasion. (NSS)
