In the men’s singles event, top-seed Andy Murray advanced to the second round of the tournament after brushing aside in-form Nicolas Mahut of France 7-6 (10-8), 7-6 (7-1).

The world number two will now lock horns with countryman Alijaz Bedene, who made it to the next round after beating Benoit Paire 7-6 (6), 6-7 (7), 6-4.
