BSF foils infiltration bid in Samba, apprehends one Pak intruder

Samba (Jammu and Kashmir) [India]: The Border Security Force (BSF) foiled an infiltration bid attempted under the cover of dense fog and thick ‘sarkanda’ (Munj Sweetcane) growth in the wee hours of intervening night of 12-13 December and apprehended one Pakistani intruder near the Kandral border outpost in Ramgarh sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district.

The BSF in a statement said last night, “A suspected movement of 4-5 persons was spotted inside Pakistan territory close to the International Boundary. The BSF troops kept a tab on their movement despite poor visibility in the area. In order to have a better observation of the area, the BSF troops fired para illuminating bombs as a result the suspected persons retreated back.”

Divulging details, the BSF said, “After some time, movement of one suspected person was again spotted by the sentries close to the IB, about 50 m ahead of the fence, who was moving suspiciously inside Indian territory. The BSF personnel challenged the intruder, but he kept on moving without any heed, following which a few precautionary rounds were fired in his direction. However, the intruder escaped unhurt due to the undulating ground in the area.”

“After that the entire area was kept under strict vigil, and subsequently, the intruder again emerged at some distance and was apprehended by the BSF party ahead of fence,” the statement said.

On preliminary questioning, said the BSF, the apprehended individual identified himself as Mohd Baksh, son of Firozdin, and a resident of Gandiyal village of Parsroor tehsil in Sialkot district of Pakistan. “He also mentioned that he has served the Pakistan Army and is now a pensioner,” said the BSF.

In the course of frisking, the BSF seized two Pakistani Rs. 500 currency notes, two identity card (National I/Card), one small knife and a paper bearing “CMA Lahore Cantt” written on it with pen from his possession.

The BSF said Pakistani Agencies are making desperate and regular attempts to infiltrate militants/intruders with ill intentions inside Indian territory in order to execute their nefarious designs. (ANI)
