Budget not released for Iftar and dinner by government

Complete budget has not been released to arrange Iftar and dinner at 200 masajid by the government of Telangana during Ramadan Mubarak. Government has also not released budget for repair and whitewash of masajid and Eidgahs.

Last year Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had announced Ramadan package under which Iftar and dinner were arranged in 100 masajid in Greater Hyderabad limits and 100 masajid in districts.

Food will be arranged for 1,000 people at each masjid, for this Rs. 2 lakh will be sanctioned for each masjid. The Iftar and dinner will be arranged on the day of ‘Dawat-e-Iftar’ to be organised by the State government.

The job of arranging Iftar and dinner has been assigned to Telangana Waqf Board. Rs. 5 Cr has been allocated for Iftar party while Rs. 10 Cr has been allocated for distribution of clothes among poor. However only 7.5 Cr has been released so far.
