With the beginning of attacks on political rivals by MIM and large scale election irregularities on Tuesday afternoon in old city, police disrupted cable telecast in several areas so that people do not know about the incidents. A police official said that cable connections are general disconnected to prevent people from getting provoked because news channels present live telecast of such incidents and show it repeatedly which can make the situation volatile.
As soon as the MIM leadership began attacking its political rivals, TV channels began showing the visuals. Police can be seen as mute spectators or supporting MIM leadership in those visuals. The visuals stirred up tension in old city and people started gathering on roads at many places. Showing vigilance police asked the shops to close and disconnected cable connection so that people remain uninformed about the violent incidents.
