CCS cops arrest cheater for siphoning Madrasas Fund

Hyderabad: Central Crime Station (CCS) cops have arrested an accused allegedly involved in siphoning of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) funds allotted to Madarassas. The cops are likely to arrest fifteen persons including employees from education department.

Mohammed Zubair an MBA student and resident of Vattepally area of Falaknuma in collusion with the staff, Project Officer, SSA, Hyderabad District and other associates in city allegedly enrolled fake Vidya Volunteers in Madarsas teaching modern education. The accused by opening bank accounts on their names and got eight Madarsas in Old City in Hyderabad and siphoned an amount of Rs.25 lakhs. The funds were meant for the Vidya Volunteers of Madarsas teaching modern education to the Muslim students.

The modus operandi of the accused was that, in the pretext of providing scholarships Zubair allegedly lured his friends and known persons and managed to get their accounts open in various banks. He then replaced the same with the existing accounts of Vidya Volunteers of selected Madarasas. With the alleged connivance of SSA project officer Hyderabad Nagraj he had withdrawn SSA funds to the tune of Rs.25 lakhs

The accused also paid the share to the officials and cheated the Government and the Nazims working under respective Madarsas for imparting education to the Muslim youth. Following the arrest the education department suspended the project officer SSA Hyderabad Nagraj for his collusion with the accused.
